Horses are widely owned around the world and are sometimes used for specific purposes and jobs. Usually, horses are ridden for a variety of different reasons, whether for a job, task or merely for pleasure; but either way your horse is going to need a saddle for you to ride him or her comfortably. Without a saddle, you entire body would be subject to straddling a horse, riding him or her, and enduring all the constant bounces that come naturally as the horse trots; this is why a saddle is important or else you are in for a painful ride.
A saddle is basically a seat that fits on top of your horse that will allow for you to ride him or her as comfortable as possible. The saddle is usually fitted for both you and your horse to ensure a proper fit for both. The saddle should fit comfortably on the horse’s back while also being comfortable enough for you to sit on top of it.
Not only should the saddle be a perfect fit for both you and your horse, but there are also different types of saddles that correspond with different styles of riding. The typical western saddle, while widely seen in movies and at rodeos, is also widely used for a specific purpose. Western saddles are usually used in rough terrain setting where the rider is on the horse for long periods of time; the western saddle style is supposed to keep the rider comfortable. The English style saddle is also widely used, especially in equestrian and Olympic events because it is meant to allow the horse to move, jump and rein freely, allowing him or her to perform at his best.
The English and western style saddles are two of the most popular styles of saddles, but there are quite a few other styles of saddles that are meant for other purposes. Dressage and show saddles are designed to help the horse look his best. Racing saddles are meant to allow a jockey to lean all the way forward during a race to allow for optimal performance.
